General nursing and midwifery course (GNM): 31/2 years

Midwifery is a health care profession in which providers offer care to childbearing women during their pregnancy, labour and birth, and during the postpartum period. They also care for the newborn through to six weeks of age, including assisting the mother with breastfeeding. A practitioner of midwifery is known as a midwife, a term used in reference to both women and men, although the majority of midwives are female.[1] In the United States, Certified Nurse-Midwives are advance practice nurses (nurse practitioners). In addition to giving care to women in connection with pregnancy and birth, midwives also provide primary care to women, well-woman care related to reproductive health, annual gynecological exams, family planning, and menopausal care.

B.Sc. nursing: 4 years

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is a four year academic degree in the science and principles of nursing, granted by Rajiv Gandhi University. After completion, become a registered nurse from a four-year program with an Bachelor’s Degree (BSN), the BSN prepares nurses for a professional role away from the bedside with coursework in nursing science, research, leadership, and nursing informatics.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission of GNM and B.Sc.Nursing

  1. The minimum age shall be 17 years completed on or before 1st July 2010. Maximum age limit is 25 years.
  2. The minimum education requirement shall be higher Secondary (10+2)/ Pre- University, obtaining 45% or more marks in the aggregate of the subjects preferably Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)
  3. The selection of the candidates will be made by a Selection Committee of the Nursing College, as per norms.
  4. Candidates who have appeared in 12th class examination under 10+2 system or an equivalent examination in March / April of the current year and whose results are likely to be declared before 1st July are also eligible to apply. But such candidates must furnish proof of passing the qualifying exam before admission
