History

The College is located in the famous temple and educational town of Udupi, in the coastal Karnataka popularly known as ‘The Karavali region’. Located about 5 kms from the coast of Arabian sea, Udupi is known for the Srikrishna temple and Ashta Matas, and its religious culture and tradition. The town which has glorious tradition of peaceful co-existence of different faiths and communities is well connected with the rest of the country by rail by the prestigious Konkan railway, road and air.

The College campus spread over 15 acres is situated besides the national highway 17 connecting Mumbai to Thiruvanathapuram. It provides a serene environment for learning and assimilation. It has all the basic amenities and facilities and is easily approachable from all corners of the town by road and readily available public transport. The Udupi railway station is just 5 Kilometers away from the College campus. The nearest airport is the Mangalore airport at Bajpe is about 50kms from the campus.

Objectives

College of Nursing is established to educate nurses who will be professionally competent, ethically sound individuals who will have the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to deliver holistic health care in all settings and to participate in educating professional nurses.

After completion of the B.Sc. Nursing Degree Program, the Graduates will be able to:

1. Assess health status and identify nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for individuals, families and communities.

2. Develop knowledge and understanding of the scientific principles underlying the techniques and methods used in nursing for providing holistic nursing care to the sick in the hospital and in the community.  

3. Develop the student’s sensitivity and skill in human relationships and communication in daily work.                                 

4. Demonstrate leadership and administrative skills in working with the health care team, community and others in the provision of health care.     

5. Develop teaching and management skills in the use of problem solving methods in nursing practice. Demonstrate ability to supervise and guide, auxiliary personnel who are part of nursing team.
